We Believe

Children should be seen and heard!

Children

Throughout Scripture, God tells us that children are a blessing from him. In fact, Jesus tells us that children are a model of faith for adults. The Second City community is blessed with so many young worshipers in our congregation, who provide a unique energy and perspective to our worship and fellowship together.

We embrace this energy and believe that the church together is called to raise children to know and love God. Second City offers a Children’s Ministry that provides care and age-appropriate biblical education for the children of our church community.

Nursery/Toddlers

Nursery

Our nursery provides care and nurturing for children ages 0-3 for the entire duration of the worship service. The nursery space is located on the lower level of the church near the Social Hall.

Children & Worship Class

Children & Worship

Children ages 3-8 are invited to join our Children & Worship class, which takes place during the scripture reading and sermon portions of our worship service.

It’s a time of worship and teaching that mirrors our adult worship and teaching. It nurtures children’s faith while preparing them for worship with the whole congregation.

Safety

For the safety of your children, all volunteers working with children are required to submit background checks and are trained in age-appropriate safety instructions.

Photo of Jessi G“I love that Children and Worship gives my kids a safe and open place to encounter stories from the Bible, and explore what they mean. I love watching them begin to understand new things about each lesson each year, and even grow into an ability to guide the younger children into the stories with them. I also cherish that they experience these stories in an environment that mirrors the worship of the larger congregation, so that when they join us for worship, they feel prepared and fully included because they're used to the rhythm of the service.” -Jessi G.
